The architecture's exterior boasts one of Wilmington's last standing Victorian facades. The interior maintains the circa 1886 exposed brick and beams. The furnishings in each suite are contemporary. Central heat and air with ceiling fans are in each suite. Our common deck above the parking area has excellent views of the Cape Fear River, USS Battleship North Carolina, the paddlewheel excursion boat the Henrietta II and the western horizon with magnificent sunsets. The 4th of July firework display viewed from our deck is grand. At Stemmerman's Inn & Suites smoking is only permitted outside on the deck.
Local attractions and activities are abundant. The Riverwalk is so close, virtually out the back door. There are great galleries, museums (even for children) and antique shops dotting the Historic District. One will find horse-drawn carriage rides, paddlewheel boat tours, unique shopping and dining (casual & formal), java shoppes, salons, consignment shops, a serpentarium, night life and more. Houses of worship are within easy walking distance. Curling up with a good book in the comfort of your suite, along the Riverwalk at one of the peaceful sitting areas or even at a java shop are other slow-down options if that's what is being sought.
The Cape Fear Coast is one of the last and most beautiful natural seashores on the Atlantic Ocean. In the summer take a swim in the waves, surf, body board, play and soak up a little sun. Charter boating and fishing, great golf courses and tennis courts are also available. Take lunch, dinner and/or a cocktail at one of the oceanfront restaurants or return to the Historic District for some great options.
Finally, no matter what you choose to do during your stay, the change of pace when you return downtown to your suite at Stemmerman's Inn is a welcoming way to change gears and reorganize. Then choose your next experience by dining at a nearby restaurant or take in a foreign film or some theatre at Thalian Hall. Our rates are regularly between $139 and $209 and are in line with other high quality competition in the area. There are low season rates as well. We have Military, Government, Corporate, AARP and AAA rates. Specials are most always offered with occasional drastic reductions. Always call the Inn directly to check for specials. Exceptional savings are available for weekly and monthly accommodations. Restrictions apply at holiday and festival seasons.
